Greater Yellow Legs Sandpiper, Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge

We went back to this area looking for the Black-crowned Night-heron that we had spotted a couple of weeks earlier. Not to be found, we ran into this bird in the same marsh. We believe it was probably on its way, migrating south, since it summers in Northern Canada. It wasn’t particularly shy so I was able to get several shots as it waded looking for food. This was the best of the lot, so here it is.
